OSTERFJORD

Exciting variety

Osterfjord lies halfway between Bergen and Voss and includes the municipalities of Modalen, Osterøy and Vaksdal.

The region is easy to get to by road, rail or sea. The fjord itself is the backbone and a trip along the fjord brings forth memories from bygone days, the fjord villages, the salmon fishermen’s huts and the stave-built boathouses. It is a journey through historic scenery, a rich heritage with many potential activities.
The Energy Centre at Dale, the Havråtunet rural museum and the Ole Bull house at Osterøy are important attractions.

HAVRÅTUNET

Havråtunet is one of the best preserved farm complexes in western Norway. The farm can be seen today just as it was many years before the turn of the century and people still live in the houses. In 1977, the Havråtunet Foundation was granted the status of a semi-public museum. The Foundation has later entered into a collaboration with Osterøy Museum. Havrå is the first facility that has been preserved as a heritage site according to section 20 of the Cultural Heritage Act.
